BAΣIΛEΩΣ - ANTIOXOY Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow in his right hand and resting his left on grounded bow; in exergue, forepart of Pegasos to left and monogram. CSE 653 = Houghton, Lampsacus, p. 62, A8/P13 = SC pl. 39, 851.2 (same dies). WSM 1552β (same dies). Rare and struck in exceptionally high relief. A few light marks, otherwise, about extremely fine.

The symbol in the exergue, the forepart of Pegasos, serves as the civic badge of the minting city of Lampsakos. The city's considerable output of tetradrachms indicates that it was a key stronghold of Hierax, whose power base lay in the Troad and around the Hellespont
